I am laid back and easy-going, and have worked in the service industry for years. I like rustic, “funky” environments, which is why I chose this place. My take on Freehand is this: Location is good (beach is about 5 minute walk away). Front desk staff ranged from okay to awkward. There were extra charges not disclosed up front when I checked in – be aware of this and budget about $25 extra per day. Bar/restaurant: excellent (including staff). Room: janky, but I appreciated the attention to detail and thought it was clean and comfortable. But the room was right outside the bar and it’s window literally looked out at the bar, which was weird and felt not private. The pool was not accessible for some reason, a big minus. Basically, if you or anyone you’re traveling with likes a conventional hotel experience, go elsewhere. If you are open minded and perhaps looking for a more social experience, this place is okay. And you’re in South Beach so you’ll have a good time either way. Solid three stars.

The price to what you get ratio is great. Bed is comfortable, the room and bathroom is clean enough, inside the lockers could be cleaner. Alexandra at front desk is amazing, she is very helpful. Location is very nice. I’d stay here again for sure. I wish there was a light blocking privacy curtain all around the beds though, there’s only a little sheer curtain between the two beds and nothing on the side of the bed.

We booked for a week during Art Basel. We came with our little one (just turned 12months), everyone was lovely with us from the front desk to the housekeeping staffs. Unfortunately at this time Indian Creek road has some public work on it. So it was quite noisy for our baby (even for us actually). We did ask if there were others rooms available that we could switch with it.Tthe receptionist Sophie has done her best to find a solution and succeed on it. She found a room at the opposite side where our little one has had some good rest. It is really nice place to stay and the staff is really professional and at the same time let you feel how they are involved in your well being. Thank you for the lovely stay you have provided to us and see you next year then.

Stay was from mid December 2021. bad experience overall & quality of the room & was said that the room given to us was one of the better rooms. Room was in poor conditions. Had roaches in the room and water bubbles on ceiling from rain. This was our first time stay in South Beach and this hotel was not it and very misleading in descriptions. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all. I would spend the extra money elsewhere. So beware! We checked out early and still going back and forth for our refund.

Shopped around a bunch and we are super happy we ended up here. Customer service is outstanding! Building is kinda old but they do well with it all things considered. Nice small pool area and a connected bar. 2 blocks from the beach and all the shops/restaurants. Will definitely consider this place again next time!

The front staff is amazing. Hotel maids are rude. The room with no windows was mildewy and very damp. The room with a terrace was nice. However the rooms are not very clean. Good price for location near the beach. If your getting a tattoo Circus Tattoo is amazing.

Probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Rated a “4 star hotel.” When? It is disgusting. The rooms were loud. There was mold in the shower and bathroom. It smelled of weed throughout the room. I was supposed to have a balcony to look out but, all I got to see was the concrete walls. The sheets and comforter were damp. Would not recommend ever. Horrible.

I arrived to the hotel roughly one hour before check in and was told the rooms aren’t available till 3pm. No big deal since I was aware of that, but the manager let me do a “pre check in,” so that when the rooms were ready, I’d be able to just grab a key. Maybe 5 minutes later, Frederick told me he had a room and that for me being nice about the wait, gave me a free upgrade!! Once I got to my room, it was an entire suite with a separate kitchen and living room. So spacious and clean, the bed was perfect and the closets even had robes for you. The kitchen has everything you need if you did have to-go food or wanted to cook. There was a small bar, snacks, soda and water as well, but those are to be charged to the room. The living room has a flat screen and even had a stereo system. The bathroom was a nice size, so you could move around freely if there was more than one person getting ready and they also provided small complimentary beauty products. At night it was quiet and I never heard more than a few bumps from the neighbors in other rooms. I went to the roof top pool and the front desk gives you beach towels to use for the day, just turn them back in. Happy hour was from 6-8pm and all the staff was very nice. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and the staff went above and beyond! I will be back.

The restaurant was under construction when we visited. It looks like it will be a cute place. The rooms are decent and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. It’s close enough to night life to walk but far enough to be quiet. Walking distance to the beach with area and chairs reserved for hotel guests. They provide towels at the hotel front desk as well as on the beach. The roof top pool is beautiful and relaxing to hang out and catch some rays!

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for Halloween (which I can’t recommend Miami Beach during Halloween weekend enough), and this hotel exceeded all expectations. The property is beautiful, clean and affordable, and Angelica at the front desk made our stay 10x better. She was amazing to us, and her hospitality was very well-received in our group. We hope to stay again soon and that she will be there to greet us!

3 stars because I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is good, right in the middle of South Beach and within walking distance of the beach and main attractions. However, parking is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE at this hotel . So much for paying for an expensive valet service. Every-time we tried to use our car it was a process of calling the front desk, sometimes they picked up and sometimes they didn’t. Waiting for up to 30 minutes and then having to struggle to park the car again upon return. We had to call the front desk because it’s located in an another building and the one at the hotel isn’t actually staffed. They just have a sign saying the front desk isn’t regularly staffed. WIFI never worked throughout our stay, we complained, they told us WIFI is bad and “they can’t do anything about it”. All in all: meh

Dec 29-31, 2021 stay with Blue Moon. Half of the hotel is currently under construction. They have bikes for use, beach towels and chairs at the beach which is nice ($20 for umbrella day rental). The place is a block off the beach and it is close to all the restaurants, bars, etc. The rooms are outdated and a little worn but you get what you pay for. They have dining and a bar downstairs, but we never chose to use it as there are many other options on the boardwalk. The pool area and pool itself are small. The pool doesn’t get any sun nor are there are chairs which you can lay out on, so if that was a selling point, I would keep looking. We came back from dinner and our room keys didn’t work on our second night. We booked our hotel through the hotels tonight website and the employee at the desk said Don had checked us out already and we would need to find another place to stay. This is at 10pm in the evening. We had already paid for two nights and signed the agreement when we arrived, but apparently this gentleman didn’t care because what the computer was telling him was that we were checked out. After negotiating with an obviously incompetent employee, he made a phone call to someone with some customer service knowledge and re-issued us our room keys. I typically don’t waste my time writing reviews on bad experiences but this warranted my time.

Nice location, hotel provides bicycle rentals with a lock, can enjoy the local bike paths and stop along the way. Pool is small but quaint area to relax and chill away from the craziness on the main street. Bethany and support staff very friendly and helpful. Parking is expensive only get a car if you really need a car. Room was small w no window but served the purpose. All areas were maintained and clean.

It is the newest place in South beach, where you should be staying, lounging, chilling and networking. Viajero Hostel Miami, formerly, The Stiles Hotel, is a 3/4 war hybrid hotel. Its a combination of individual hotel rooms, hostel rooms with 4, 6, and 8 beds as well as even all female rooms. Each room comes with its own bathroom, so no having to go down dark hallways when nature calls. Then there are the family rooms or what I refer to as Friends package room. It comes with a Queen size bed and a bunk bed that has 2 nice size beds. Everything is brand new. The bedding, lobby furniture, pool furniture and room furniture as well. There’s a huge population of beautiful Latinos but there are always other nationalities in the hotel. There are 3 places below and in front of the hotel where you can obtain adult beverages. There is a restaurant as well that is in front of the hotel on the 1st floor that is also, part hookah bar. Music is always playing throughout the lobby during the day and evening hours, But not enough to disturb guest in the room. The pool area is very nice with 3 wading pools That are very colorful and color The lobby also carries over with the brightly colored thing that is surrounding the pools

I adore this little cozy contemporary hostel in the heart of South Beach. My event was at Versace Mansion that was just two breezy blocks from this hotel. My room on the first floor was perfect. Clean, updated with stark white and grey marble and crisp tile in the bathroom and shower. For the price, the value is generous and the vibe is all Miami. It’s fun, young, hip and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The staff is incredible warm and friendly. The music that floats through the air is that deep house we all love that makes us feel the magic of Miami. Cool, fresh, hip. The outdoor area with the pools look perfect for a dip with a melting daiquiri in hand. Shades perched perfectly on your nose. I’ll be back for sure, even if just to stare at the flamingos on the ceiling and repose at the communal table with a fresh coffee. Pros: location, vibe, friendly staff, value Cons: inconsistent cleanliness, utilities, size of rooms 🌴❤️🌟

Our expectations were low but wow. Had to change rooms twice because our first room had no curtain, the bathroom light didn’t work, and our bed squeaked so bad we couldn’t sleep. Our second room, although better, had lipstick stains on the bed frame from a past guest. Every room has a 14” TV on the wall which is unwatchable and looks absolutely ridiculous. They advertise free breakfast but inform you after the fact that you have to pay. They only have one front desk worker on the clock at all times, so even just asking a question could require a 20+ minute wait. The front desk workers were actually very helpful, and I feel bad that they are employed in such a mess. After staying a week, we received room service ONE time. To top everything off, although the hotel contains a literal restaurant (which also has poor reviews), when I asked for ketchup they told me they had none. How can a hotel not have ketchup? Unfortunately this place is not worth any price considering the limited hospitality and lackluster included amenities. The only reason this hotel gets above 1 star is because of the very kind and helpful front desk staff.

This review is dedicated to Nelly, at the front desk. Nelly went above and beyond in the way that she provided for me as a guest at Red South Beach. Having a later flight in the day, Nelly allowed me to leave my bags there while I stayed on the beach until my flight, on top of providing me with a towel and changing facilities. I highly recommend anybody staying at this location just to be able to experience the service I was provided. Thank you so much Nelly!

Worst experience at a hotel I’ve ever had! There were spiders in the shower the room was dirty! Never cleaned before I checked in. Could tell they didn’t do anything to the room prior to me checking in besides for making the bed. When I asked for a refund they denied me of it cause they said I didn’t tell them soon enough when I did call them the morning after I left and told them how bad my stay was and that I wanted a refund! Definitely don’t stay here, they are scammers and only want your money.

The manager / front staff are really accommodating! We got there early and asked if we could checkin. They said they would text us once the room was ready and let us drop our stuff at the front desk while we explore the city. The place is super convenient and there are a lot of places to eat nearby. When we were checking out they also agreed to let us store our things for a bit since our flight was later in the day.

We rented a 2 bedroom suite. The pictures on their website must have been taken 20yrs ago. Trust me it looks very different in person. The entire building smells like mildew covered with an overwhelming type of air freshener. The room was dirty and smelled, stained sheets and towels, there is no continental breakfast or valet parking as their website states. I rented a car solely based on their website listing valet parking available for a fee. Trying to park on the street or a lot a few blocks away was a nightmare and expensive, have to download a parking app to pay to park on the street, if you can find a spot. Nobody answered the phone when I tried to call about the parking, etc. The bathroom door would not shut all the way, the toilet usually flushed and had to jiggle the handle to make it stop running, no hot water, no new towels or toilet paper, had to go buy some. FINALLY saw a staff person there ONE time near the end of our stay, asked him where’s the valet parking and he basically said they’ve never had valet parking and it isn’t listed anywhere. Wow, okay!!!! After his response I didn’t bother to ask where’s the continental breakfast, and clean towels for the room, and beach towels and chairs(also listed on website)and hot water, and handyman to fix bathroom door, where’s the cute patio chairs/tables and cushions for wicker furniture and cute decorations on the front porch, as pictured on website. I could go on but I think you get the point. Perhaps if you like staying at a hostel this place would work for you. It has potential if they kept it clean and repaired/maintained, if it actually looked like the pictures on their website and offered everything their website lists. But it does not even come close to what their website shows/list.

Nice hotel! We arrived when Happy Hour was almost over. The ladies at the reception told us to go to the bar quickly so we could have some cocktails and they kept our luggage safe. The hotel has a nice big garden with swimming pool and a back door to the beach. Once we arrived in the room, the ceiling above the shower appeared to be leaking. We reported this to the front desk and Yashira Trinidad was super friendly and helped us right away. She offered us a beautiful large room with jacuzzi, compliments for the great service!

Overall a really nice hotel. We had an early flight and the lady at the front desk was able to get us our room early so we thank her for that. The ‘backyard’ area is extremely nice. The pool is nice, nice hot tub, hammock, Cornhole, ping pong, bar. Plenty of lounge chairs and sofas to sit on. All of the staff we encountered were kind and friendly especially the guy that helps with the lounge chairs on the beach, we loved him. We stayed 3 nights and I would recommend this hotel. The only cons I would say are the coffee maker was kind of dirty and the restaurant closed pretty early so we couldn’t get any late night snacks with having no vending machine or anything, also the elevator is incredibly slow we mainly used the stairs But its walking distance from pretty much everything and the beach is right out of the back door. Also the area is extremely loud at all hours of the night but that isn’t the fault of the hotel, it is Miami after all just be aware.

I booked a seven-day stay here, but there was a blackout from the afternoon of the third day while I was staying. And until deep night, this hotel could not fix the blackout. Not the entire Miami blackout, but only this hotel had a blackout. That night, all the guests of the hotel were angry and asked for compensation, but this hotel said it would not accept the cost only on the day of the power outage, so I paid a higher price than usual and booked another hotel. Overall, my evaluation of this hotel is like this, the price is really reasonable, but the hotel is not systematic . However, free beach parasols (Most other hotels charge umbrellas) and free beach chairs and connecting directly to the beach are very good. The size of the room is not small, but it’s frustrating because the window doesn’t open. But the air conditioner works well. The cost-effectiveness is good, but it was very inconvenient because of the power outage. If there is no happening like a blackout during your stay, this hotel will be fine. The size of the swimming pool is okay, but the water is very cold.

Absolutely perfect place to stay in Miami. It is ideally located, at a price really reasonable for South Beach yet the hotel has all the amenities that you need. The staff is really friendly and patient with foreigners, and the room was clean and quiet all throughout my stay. If you like the Art Deco style this hotel is honouring it well. Personally it is not my cup of tea but still those rooms who are a bit psychedelic are a fun way to enjoy the local art scene. Great place!

Do not waste your money. My husband and I booked a king bed room for our anniversary celebration. When we arrived to check in, they gave us a room with two twin beds. When we asked the front desk, they said they overbooked the king rooms and they do not have one available. We asked for a refund and left. While looking through my bank statements the fallowing month, I realized that the exact date my refund processed into my account, another transaction was authorized! Talk about a scam! The hotel was old and dirty. Save your money and book elsewhere.

Pros: cannot beat the view (we had a balcony studio suite) and we prefer this side of the island as opposed to the busier Ocean Drive side. A short walk or bike ride to everything and less craziness! Cons: resort fee of 40 USD/night doesn’t include much. The pool area was large but only a few sections open to hotel guests. The rest of the chairs/lounges were reserved and up to 1,500 to rent! The on site bar and restaurant had lovely views and a good menu but way too expensive! Lastly, though the entrance of the hotel and view are grand, the room was dirty. Stained rug and bedsheets and rusty furniture. Thin walls and very loud at all times of the day. Overall, I would probably stay here again because the views were so amazing, but it does leave a lot to be desired!

The hotel is falling apart. This was not my first stay at the Mondrian. I first stayed here back in 2012. At this time, the hotel was absolutely gorgeous as well as unique. I decided to re-visit the hotel I once enjoyed 9 years later. We checked in and were greeted by a new lobby and two glasses of champagne. We walked up to check in where three front desk clerks were crowded into a small front desk area that served little to no privacy from other guest checking in and out. From the lobby to the room, everything else seemed to be the same minus the upgraded security feature in the elevator. We go to our room and it was slightly different from my first stay. It looked like a painted over and outdated version of the original hotel I stayed in. I didn’t mind because of the gorgeous view we got and the impression it left on me from my previous stay. The bed looked comfortable at sight but after the first night, our backs were starting to really feel how bad the mattress was. The sheets were basic. We noticed a stain on the layer between the last sheet and the mattress protector when pulling the sheets off before bed. The next two nights, we were mostly out of the room so we didn’t really stop to notice much. I woke up to use the rest room at 4AM the day I was leaving. After using the toilet, I noticed a leak on the floor. I panicked and thought it was from the bowl itself but found that it was from the back part of the toilet overflowing due to rusted and old parts (that are fairly inexpensive to replace). Luckily it stopped but I was too tired to deal with it at the moment. I went back to sleep and woke up around 7:30 AM and decided to warm some food in the microwave. As I was issuing the microwave, I noticed the plate did not move and it started to spark! I decided not to have breakfast. I then went to open the windows to get fresh air to be greet by two old cigarettes on the window. At this point I had enough. I was very disappointed that a hotel I once enjoyed has been mismanaged and neglected to turn into this.

This hotel is just a mess, extremely dirty as you can see on the pics. It is just disgusting!!! I was very close to show you a pic of my dirty socks after wearing them in this room for one hour…I don’t know if they have ever cleaned the floor… I would give them zero star but concierge service/ room service is just amazing!!!! They are very nice and helpful:) Not planning to come back until they start cleaning rooms

The hotel is a little small and dated for my taste. However, if you’re into the quaint boutique kinda of stay, this is it! I absolutely loved the outdoor space. A beautiful garden leads to the pool and beach area. The hotel restaurant is a hit! It brought in many tourists during the brunch hour. Hotel also offered free drinks during happy hour! I wouldn’t stay again, but it wasn’t so bad.

Pros: -Pretty pool area and outdoor landscaping -Friendly and helpful staff at the pool -Comfortable beds -Location on the beach -Surprisingly good free wine every evening Cons: -The rooms are small and not very nice at all. The bathrooms are TINY (probably the smallest hotel bathroom I’ve ever seen). You could not fit more than 2 people comfortably. The rooms are DEFINITELY not the quality you would expect at a 4-star hotel. -Dingy fitness center Overall, if you’re looking for luxury, this is not your best bet. If you’re looking for a clean, decent place for a short stay this is a decent choice.

❗️You really just have to choose Surfcomber.❗️If you go somewhere else, you’ll be in trouble. The surfcomber hotel’s swimming pool is large, the rooms are clean, and the windows are open, so ventilation is good. The staff are very kind, the room service is delicious, and social restaurants are fantastic. If I come to Miami again, I will definitely choose Surfcomber! There are really kind employees here, and the hotel offers free beach chairs and towels. And the swimming pool is really big and comfortable. The happiest thing was that this hotel offers free morning coffee every morning, and it’s seriously, seriously delicious!! I love Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel. ❤️

Great value for the price. We’ve stayed on the main South Beach strip before and actually prefer this location, only two blocks from the main drag. It gave us the opportunity to explore a whole new area and everything was still super convenient. Pluses were: price, location, comfy bed, free happy hour at sister hotels, restaurant in lobby, and updated styling. Cons were: front desk staff wasn’t sure about beach towels or chairs, and no coffee maker in the room. Maybe add any info about beach towels to the check-in sheet guest get when they arrive?

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced! The photos online show this place to be updated & modern but really it’s absolutely disgusting! The check-in is at 3pm, which is inconvenient & they’re not even willing to hold your bags so you can come back to check in.. they told us there was “storage” down the block.. My boyfriend & I never made it to our hotel room, this place was so disgusting we left & booked a different hotel. We immediately wanted showers after leaving. I asked the front desk guy if I could cancel my reservations since I booked it through the hotel website. He is absolutely rude & was not helpful to us at all. He said I had to do it online but no one answers any of the numbers listed or the emails listed.. we’re out $800 now. Literally the worst experience! If you need a good hotel I recommend Urbanica Fifth Hotel. They were super friendly & everything is clean!

To the hotels credit, we asked to move to another room after the first night was so loud close to the street (room 203). That room was toooo loud. They responded and found us another room away from the Main Street and everything has been great since! Comfortable beds, responsive staff, great location! Great way to spend our anniversary in South Beach 🥰

Let me start by saying don’t stay here ok my room was small but that’s fine the shower head leaked like crazy the bed was broke gutted my back asked front desk about the bed and ac they never came to check the next day we checked out since they couldn’t change our room. The next day we were told that there’s no refund so I basically have a room sitting there no being occupied a waste of money I booked the Catalina hotel rooms are nice

I am currently staying at this hotel and I have made a complaint with the reservations manager Jose. I let him know that when we checked in there was urine all over our toilet that I had to clean with hand sanitizer, there was woman’s hair in the bed sheets, mold in the bathroom, bugs in the ceiling light, we heard crying under our bed at 8am so I’m guessing it was a mouse and construction outside of our window from next door. When I asked for our room to be changed he said he’ll have housekeeping go look around. I feel that is such poor customer service and unless my room is changed or I have some type of compensation back for this I will have to leave my review as a one star. I should have listened to the reviews I read before booking but I gave it a chance and I am so sorry I did. This is not vacation, this is horrible, unhealthy and just unprofessional. Shame on you Jose (manager) and the entire hotel at south beach plaza.

Do you enjoy sleeping, quiet rooms, hotel parking, a way to contact the front desk, or staying in a safe area? If so, then DONT COME TO THIS HOTEL. By far the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced. When we arrived to the hotel it was very busy on the streets and there was no street parking. The hotel advertises “valet parking”, but they do not have any. We drove around the hotel front, sides and back several times and could not find any valet. We then proceeded to try calling the hotel to figure out where the valet parking was… but no one answered. We tried calling several times during the span of a half hour and nobody would answer. We finally called Expedia and asked them to contact the hotel. They were able to speak with the hotel and they told us to “use the valet parking for the neighboring hotel”. Not feeling comfortable parking my car with a different hotel, we decided to park several blocks away in a parking garage. When we finally got in our hotel room (after 2 hours of circling the hotel and talking with Expedia) we were underwhelmed with the room itself. It wasn’t dirty, but it was… weird to say the least. Unfortunately we were on the first floor next to the bar so all we heard was loud music all night. And if the hotel wasn’t bad enough then the area should deter you itself. There were gunshots fired at a store only a block away from us on the first night we were there.

What an incredible experience at Fairwind! We stayed for a week and the weather was gorgeous, our hotel is less than a five minute walk to the beach. The staff is so kind and attentive! There is a cute Bodega that is across the courtyard and Monica the waitress fixed me up the most delicious mango smoothie. Thank you Monica! We will definitely book again with Fairwind in the future.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at! The room was clean and modern. The staff were amazing and super accommodating! They went above and beyond to satisfy mine and my families requests. I will definitely be revisiting the Fairwind hotel very soon!!
